Superior Taste Award 2016
The remarkable success of Krepko Dairy at the prestigious world competition
Superior Taste Award 2016
Ljubljana, June 6th 2016. Krepko Dairy from Laze pri Logatcu, with its unique Krepko traditional kefir made from real kefir grains and Krepko traditional Kajmak, achieved great success at an evaluation of food and beverage, organised annually in Brussels by iTQi, the leading International Taste and Quality Institute. With the highest quality score received, they ranked among the most elite food and beverage producers in the world.
iTQi is a leading independent association of chefs and sommeliers from around the world, bringing together as many as 140 members from 41 countries.
The evaluation is based on the principle of so called blind tasting, which means that both the packaging and the manufacturer of the product are unknown to the jury. The award is given on the base of organoleptic criteria, which evaluate the aroma, texture, taste and after-taste of the product.
This year, amongst 1859 registered products from 83 countries, a rigorous jury awarded 756 products that received the highest award.
“At Krepko Dairy, owned by the family-owned company Kele & Kele d.o.o., we are extremely proud of the recognition and the award for our products. For our Krepko Kefir, this is the second prize in such an evaluation, and the award for Krepko Kajmak is not surprising, as it is considered a remarkable achievement of tradition and knowledge combined in exceptional taste. Krepko Kefir is a product that we have believed in since the idea of producing this wonderful beverage to the final product with exceptional taste, crowned by the esteemed iTQi jury in 2009 with the Superior Taste Award. In 2016, we repeated the success with kefir and upgraded it with kajmak. The award also confirmed to our family business that we were on the right track and that the policies we had set, i.e. traditional, natural, healthy and organic, mean a lot even in today’s fast-paced life, or even more,” said Sandra Turnšek, Director of the Krepko Dairy. This is a reward for the twenty years of hard work and perseverance of a great team of colleagues in the specialised production of traditional kefir and the development of the new product, kajmak, and whose thoughts and work are focused on continuous development and education,” she added.
On June 1st, an awards ceremony was held in Brussels, where the representatives of Krepko Dairy were able to convince themselves of the impressiveness of the awardees’ company by joining companies such as Nestlé, Heineken, Kraft Heinz and others.
